Presentation
The Local Collection is located on the second floor of the Library.
Gather all the documents that refer to Figueres and the Alt Empordà; those that have been prepared by authors born or linked to Figueres and the region; works published in Figueres and surroundings.
In the local collection of the Library you can find: Old and current monographs
Periodic publications (magazines, newspapers, organization newsletters) from the mid-19th century to the present day
Graphic material (photographs, posters, maps, scores...)
Local music [See local music]
CD-ROM, DVD...
Bibliographic guides prepared by the Library itself [Thematic guides]
All this material is identified with a label beginning with the initials "CL". Most of the books and documents are duplicated so that they can be left on loan [white label] and in the room you will always find a reference copy, excluded from loan [yellow label].
They are ordered according to an adaptation of the Universal Decimal Classification, but also by centers of interest: Dalí, Natural Parks,...
Old, rare and fragile documents, old press, photographs, minor material and works of which we only have one copy are kept in the warehouse. In order to give maximum dissemination to these materials and at the same time to preserve them, the Library has already started the digitization of the collection.

If you are from Figueres or the region and have written a book, composed music, or directed or participated in a film or documentary, we encourage you to send us a copy of your work to the Library so that to disseminate it and at the same time increase the local fund.
